Head Coach Guy Smith


Coach Smith is Hungtingtown’s first baseball coach, joining the Hurricanes when the school opened in 2005. Prior to joining Huntingtown, Coach Smith was Head Coach at Calvert High [2000-2004] and an assistant at Northern High [1998-1999].

Coach Smith was a four-year letter winner at the University of Maryland and was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 16th round of the 1992 Amateur Baseball Draft. Coach Smith’s high school teams at Northern [1988-1992] won two regional titles and was a state semi finalist. In the 2006 second year campaign with the Hurricanes Coach Smith's team finished 2nd in the Maryland 3A State Class in addition to their East Regional title. He won several honors in baseball including All-SMAC [twice] and All-Met and was named Calvert County MVP. Coach Smith participated in the Crown All-Star Game and played for Team Maryland. Coach Smith also won All SMAC honors and a regional title in football

While at Huntingtown Coach Smith has endured much success. His Hurricanes were the 2006 Maryland 3a State Finalists, as well as 2006 Regional Champs. Coach Smiths personal awards include the 2006 Washington Post All Extra Coach of the year and the 2006 Regional Coach of the year

Coach Smith teaches health and PE at Huntingtown High. He and his wife Carrie have three children: Guy, Suzy and Kailey.
